Wist je dat …
het trainen van GPT-4 naar schatting zo'n 50 gigawattuur aan energie heeft gekost? Dat is genoeg om heel Nederland tijdens piekuren enkele uren van stroom te voorzien. Of anders gezegd: het staat gelijk aan de energie die vrijkomt bij de ontploffing van 43.000 ton TNT. Voor die rekening betaalde OpenAI overigens ook nog eens meer dan 100 miljoen dollar en dat voor een trainingsproces van 100 dagen.

AC: Flunkyball
Op 20 mei organiseert de AC Flunkyball in het Noorderplantsoen! Twee teams, een bal en een fles in het midden: gooi de fles om en drink je drankje zo snel mogelijk leeg voordat de tegenstander de fles weer rechtop heeft. Snel, competitief en gegarandeerd gezellig. We verzamelen om 19:15 uur en gaan om 19:30 uur van start. Deelname kost €3,- per persoon.

FC: Gender in de Blender
Op donderdag 21 mei organiseert de FC een borrel met een thema dat je niet snel vergeet. Bij Gender in de Blender gaan alle genderrollen de blender in, en de opdracht is simpel: draag iets wat je normaal nooit zou aantrekken. Stap voor één avond lekker buiten je comfortzone en geniet van een gezellige avond bij De Brouwerij. Toegang is gratis, en de eerste 100 bier, wijn of fris zijn ook gratis, dus wees er op tijd bij!

Bestuur: Bestuur Bekendmakingsborrel
Zet hem in je agenda: op dinsdag 27 mei is het eindelijk zover! Tijdens onze speciale bekendmakingsborrel bij De Brouwerij (Poelestraat 27, Groningen) onthullen we wie er het aspirant 22e bestuur vormt. Vanaf 21:00 uur bouwen we samen de spanning op met muziek en drankjes, tot het grote moment aanbreekt. Meer info over de kosten volgt nog.

Bestuur: Duurzaamheidsfestival
Op woensdag 28 mei organiseren we een Duurzaamheidsfestival in de binnentuin van Equilibrium, bereikbaar via de labzaal (H0.99). Van 14:00 tot 18:00 uur zijn er inspirerende sprekers, waaronder BioBTX, die vertellen hoe hun bedrijven duurzaamheid aanpakken. Meer sprekers worden nog bekendgemaakt.
Naast de talks zijn er twee workshops: maak je eigen duurzame bloempot of geef een oud t-shirt een tweede leven als tote bag. Heb je zelf nog een t-shirt liggen die je niet meer draagt? Neem hem dan gerust mee! Eten en drinken zijn gratis, er is muziek en de toegang is voor iedereen vrij.

EHBO-cursus verplaatst naar 3 juni, nu samen met Tapp!
Je hebt eerder gehoord over de EHBO-cursus die Equilibrium organiseert met het Rode Kruis. We hebben een update: de cursus is verplaatst naar 3 juni. Zelfde locatie op Atoomweg 2B in Groningen, aanvang 18:00 uur en een deelnameprijs van €36,25. Wat nieuw is: we organiseren dit nu samen met studievereniging Tapp, wat het geheel alleen maar leuker maakt!
Tijdens de cursus leer je de basisprincipes van eerste hulp, begeleid door trainers van het Rode Kruis. Handig om te weten en misschien ooit van levensbelang. Let op: aanmelden kan tot uiterlijk 26 mei en het aantal plekken is beperkt, dus wacht niet te lang.

Gezocht! Begeleiders introductiekamp september 2026.
Lieve leden,
Ook al lijkt het nog ver weg, wij als introductiecommissie zijn hard bezig met het introductiekamp van 2026! Zo zijn wij op zoek naar begeleiders voor de eerstejaars op het kamp.
Lijkt het jou leuk om van 2 t/m 4 september begeleider te zijn van de eerstejaars en ze een hele toffe introperiode te geven? Meld je dan nu aan!
Als begeleider kun je voor de eerstejaars een grote rol spelen in hoe veilig, leuk en leerzaam het kamp voor ze is. Voor de eerstejaars is dit hun eerste indruk van de opleiding en vooral de studievereniging. Als begeleider ben je verantwoordelijk, sociaal, respectvol en vooral erg enthousiast over de nieuwe lichting die komt!
Naast het kamp zijn er twee “knip en plak” dagen waarbij we dingen gaan knutselen voor het thema van kamp, waarbij we ook samen een leuke activiteit gaan doen. Belangrijke informatie volgt wanneer je je opgeeft. Deze zijn op 9 juli en 31 augustus, zet het alvast in je agenda!

On 20 May the AC is organising Flunkyball in the Noorderplantsoen! Two teams, a ball and a bottle in the middle: knock it over and finish your drink as fast as you can before the other team sets it back up. Fast, competitive and guaranteed fun. We meet at 19:15 and the game kicks off at 19:30. Participation costs €3,- per person.

FC: Gender in the Blender
On Thursday, 21 May, the FC is hosting a drinks event you won't want to miss. At Gender in the Blender, all gender roles go straight into the blender, and the challenge is simple: wear something you would never normally wear. Come step out of your comfort zone for a fun evening at De Brouwerij. Entry is free, and the first 100 beer, wine, or sodas are on the house, so make sure you arrive on time!

Sustainability Festival
On Wednesday 28 May, we're hosting a Sustainability Festival in the Equilibrium courtyard garden, accessible through the lab room (H0.99). From 14:00 to 18:00, there will be inspiring speakers, including BioBTX, sharing how their companies approach sustainability in practice. More speakers will be announced soon.
Alongside the talks, there are two workshops: make your own sustainable plant pot or have an old t-shirt transformed into a reusable tote bag. Got an old shirt you no longer wear? Bring it along! Food and drinks are free, there will be music, and entrance is open to everyone.

First Aid Course moved to June 3rd, now together with Tapp!
You may have already heard about the first aid course Equilibrium is organising with the Red Cross. We have an update: the course has been moved to June 3rd. The location at Atoomweg 2B in Groningen stays the same, as does the start time of 6:00 PM and the participation fee of €36.25. What is new is that we are now organising this together with study association Tapp, which makes it even better!
During the course, Red Cross trainers will guide you through the basics of first aid. Useful to know and possibly a lifesaver one day. Please note that registration closes on May 26th and spots are limited, so make sure to sign up on time.

Wanted! Supervisors for the September 2026 introduction camp.
Dear members,
Even though it seems far away, we as the introduction committee are working hard on the 2026 introduction camp! For instance, we are looking for supervisors for the first-year students at the camp.
Would you like to be a supervisor for the first-year students from September 2nd to 4th and give them a really cool intro period? Then sign up now!
As a supervisor, you can play a major role in ensuring the camp is safe, fun, and educational for the first-year students. For the first-year students, this is their first impression of the study program and especially the student association. As a supervisor, you are responsible, social, respectful, and above all, very enthusiastic about the new cohort coming up!
In addition to the camp, there are two “cut and paste” days where we will be crafting things for the camp theme, and where we will also do a fun activity together. Important information will follow once you sign up. These are on July 9th and August 31st, so mark them in your calendar!
