Wist je dat …
Er een vissoort bestaat die kan overleven in giftig zwavelwater? De sulphur molly (Poecilia sulphuraria) leeft alleen in de Baños del Azufre zwavelbronnen in Mexico, waar hoge concentraties van het dodelijke gas waterstofsulfide (H₂S) voorkomen. Deze kleine vis heeft zich geëvolueerd om deze extreme omstandigheden te verdragen waar vrijwel geen andere vissen kunnen overleven. Met honderdduizenden tegelijk creëren ze "visgolven" als collectieve verdediging tegen roofdieren. Een fascinerend voorbeeld van zwermgedrag!

Bestuur: Fossielen Zoeken 🪨 🦴
Ga 24 & 26 februari mee op avontuur bij de zandwinning H.H. van der Velde in Alteveer en ontdek een wereld vol bijzondere stenen en fossielen! Van kiezelstenen die 40 miljoen jaar onderweg zijn geweest via de oerrivier Eridanos tot zwerfstenen uit de ijstijden: hier is elke steen een verhaal.
Met je hamer en bijtel in de hand leer je hoe je sedimentair gesteente kunt splijten op zoek naar fossielen, terwijl je tegelijkertijd oog krijgt voor prachtige kristallen, geoden en bijzondere zwerfstenen. Misschien vind jij wel een oeroude schelp, een stukje versteend hout of een oerkies!
📋 WAT NEEM JE MEE:
- Labbril (verplicht!)
- Handschoenen
- Oude kleding
- Hamer/bijtel
- Lunch
- Eventueel een emmertje voor je vondsten
⚠️ Veiligheid staat voorop: volg altijd de aanwijzingen en draag je bril.

EA: Murder Mystery
Beste Equi-avonturiers,
Op woensdag 4 maart staat de allerlaatste activiteit van Equi’s Adventure op de planning en we sluiten af in stijl! 🌹🔎
We beginnen de avond gezellig met een heerlijk etentje bij The Four Roses. Vanaf 17:45 uur zijn jullie daar van harte welkom om samen te genieten van lekker eten en goed gezelschap.
Maar daar blijft het niet bij…
Na het diner verplaatsen we ons naar Literair Café De Graanrepubliek, waar een bloedstollend murder mystery op ons wacht. Daar duiken we in het mysterie rond de moord op Arend. Wie spreekt de waarheid? Wie heeft iets te verbergen? En nog belangrijker… wie is de dader? 🕵️♀️
Voor slechts €5 krijg je zowel het eten als de activiteit – een koopje voor een avond vol spanning en gezelligheid!

Did you know …
There's a fish species that can survive in toxic sulfur water? The sulphur molly (Poecilia sulphuraria) lives exclusively in the Baños del Azufre sulfur springs in Mexico, where high concentrations of deadly hydrogen sulfide gas (H₂S) are present. This small fish has evolved the ability to tolerate these extreme conditions where virtually no other fish can survive. In groups of hundreds of thousands, they create "fish waves" as collective anti-predator behavior. A fascinating example of emergent swarm intelligence!

Board: Fossil Hunt🪨 🦴
Join us on an adventure at the H.H. van der Velde sand extraction center in Alteveer on February 24th and 26th and discover a world full of extraordinary stones and fossils! From pebbles that have traveled 40 million years via the ancient river Eridanos to erratic boulders from the Ice Ages: every stone has a story to tell.
With your hammer and chisel in hand, you'll learn how to split sedimentary rock in search of fossils, while simultaneously developing an eye for beautiful crystals, geodes, and unique erratic boulders. You might even find an ancient shell, a piece of petrified wood, or a primordial molar!
📋 WHAT TO BRING:
- Lab goggles (required!)
- Gloves
- Old clothes
- Hammer/chisel
- Lunch
- Possibly a bucket for your finds

Dear Equi adventurers,
On Wednesday, March 4th, the very last activity of Equi's Adventure is planned, and we're closing in style! 🌹🔎
We'll start the evening with a delicious dinner at The Four Roses. You're very welcome to join us from 5:45 PM to enjoy delicious food and good company.
But it doesn't stop there...
After dinner, we'll move on to Literary Café De Graanrepubliek, where a thrilling murder mystery awaits. There, we'll delve into the mystery surrounding Arend's murder. Who's telling the truth? Who's hiding something? And more importantly... who is the culprit? 🕵️♀️
